About Us. The Law Office of Katherine Bachelder provides cost-effective and efficient, full and limited legal services pertaining to Alaska law. Limited legal services are sometimes also called "unbundled" legal services. This means that we provide a limited scope of legal services as requested and purchased by you. Our relationship with you will not exceed the limited scope of work we have agreed to perform on your behalf.
The Law Office of Katherine Bachelder is owned by Katherine R. Bachelder, M.Ed., J.D. Ms. Bachelder was admitted to the bar in 1989 and is licensed to practice law in the State of Alaska, including all state courts.
Ms. Bachelder graduated from Boston's Northeastern University School of Law in 1988. Prior to graduating from law school, Ms. Bachelder obtained her Master's Degree from Boston University and practiced as a forensic adult, child, and family counselor for eight years in the Boston area. She moved to Alaska in 1988 to work as a Law Clerk followed by seven years as a criminal defense attorney. She was appointed a magistrate and standing master in 1996 and retired from that position after 11 years in July 2007. She opened this law practice in 2007.
Tessa Tate is our paralegal. She earned an associates degree in paralegal studies from the University of Alaska in 2006. She joined the practice in February of 2011. She previously worked as a clerk and judicial assistant in the Probate and Protective Proceedings Department of the Alaska Court System in Fairbanks for over five years.
